ROMANO DS Gianluca Petrachi has turned Torino into a profitable operation

Gianluca Petrachi has done a heck of a job for Torino, hasn’t he?

The current squad he has assembled includes a bargain-basement Joe Hart, talented youngster Daniele Baselli and Marco Benassi, not to mention Adem Ljajic and Andrea Belotti, who cost Torino only €7 million and is now worth three times as much.

Add the likes of Iago Falque’, and one realizes that the Granata are being run very well indeed. In fact, Petrachi’s greatest triumph may well have been selling off the starting defence of the 2014/2015 season, despite it being responsible for 45 goals flying in at the wrong end.

Matteo Darmian has been the highest-profile departure, joining Manchester United for 18m (2m more in bonuses), Kamil Glik cost Monaco 11m, Bruno Peres moved to Roma for 13.5m (1.5m more in bonuses) and Nikola Maksimovic for 25m and Mirko Valdifiori.

Talk about selling in order to buy!
