Spanish striker's move to Everton put on hold

What seemed like a simple piece of transfer business may not be so simple after all with reports that Everton are struggling to complete the signing of Spanish striker Sandro Ramirez. The 21-year-old is currently representing his country at the Under-21 European Championships in Poland and Everton chiefs are reported to be out there to try to finalise an agreement.

The Toffees have triggered his £5M release clause from Malaga and The Mirror reports that the Merseysiders were hoping to announce the deal today but that his current employers are making life hard for the Premier League side because of the low fee involved. Whilst a deal is still expected to be done, boss Ronald Koeman faces an anxious few days whilst club secretary David Harrison tries to get the player signed sealed and delivered.

Sandro had an outstanding season last year scoring 14 goals in 30 La Liga appearances. Having already secured the services of goalkeeper Jordan Pickford (also in Poland with England) and Dutch midfielder Davy Klaassen, Koeman is determined to send out a message that his side really do mean business next term.
