Spurs offer right-back new deal amid Man City's Walker interest

Tottenham Hotspur are set to offer Kieran Trippier a new five-year-deal, with Manchester City still in the hunt for Kyle Walker, reports The Telegraph.

After the Lilywhites finished an impressive second in last season’s Premier League – just missing out on the title to the Antonio Conte’s formidable Chelsea – their players have been under the watchful eye of many esteemed clubs, with most recent reports suggesting that Walker is in line for a switch to Man City.

The 26-year-old Trippier was favoured instead of Walker from the later end of the season and is now poised to be manager Mauricio Pochettino’s first choice in the right-back position for the 2017/18 campaign.

Trippier made his England debut last week but was unable to inspire the side that lost 3-2 to France. Having signed from Burnley for £3.5m in the summer of 2015, the defender has become a reliable squad member for the north-London side.

It is thought, though, that a deal would only be laid out only if Walker went to Man City for the reported sum of £50m.
