Between Gerard Pique’s fifth yellow card, and Javier Mascherano’s injury, Barcelona’s backline is in significant need of fresh legs as they prepare to take on second place Valencia next week. With Ernesto Valverde in desperate need of a body, he’s looking toward the Barca B squad for a savior.

Celta de Vigo loanee David Costas, who has shown with Barca B this year, is in line to get a call by the big club for next weekend’s highly-anticipated match. In fact, Barcelona is already looking to make his transfer permanent.

Naturally a defensive-midfielder, the 22-year-old has played twelve matches, ten of which he went the full ninety minutes, and has been a versatile player on defense. In addition to centerback duties, he has also impressed on the wing as Barca B has also suffered through injuries.

According to Marca, Valverde is also weighing two other players a potential fill-ins. Jorge Cuenca and Fali are also on his radar.
