Tottenham bide their time for Barkley transfer

Tottenham are biding their time in the quest to sign England international Ross Barkley from Everton, according to Sky Sports.

Mauricio Pochettino is prepared to wait on the Merseyside club to lower their initial asking price of £50m for the 23-year-old, with the player thought to be one of the Argentine’s major targets for the summer.

Spurs are looking to build on his side’s fantastic second-place finish last season by bringing in fresh legs and keeping hold of pivotal players such as Harry Kane and Dele Alli.

The north-London club, though, are not thought to be eager on purchasing the Liverpool-born player for the current amount The Toffees have thought to request, but believe that the club will be forced to lower the price as the transfer deadline approaches.

Time will be against both clubs, but with the Everton academy graduate only having one year on his contract and not wanting a new one, it leaves Everton with little room of manoeuvre, especially as Spurs are willing to move on to another target if one was presented.
