Corinthians denied the rumours that Adriano will be their player: "We are interested in Adriano but there is no agreement - it said on the Brazilian club website - Like all great players, Corinthians are interested in Adriano, but it is premature to say that there is an agreement with him", said Andres Sanchez, president of Corinthians.

"But no one believes it. You are the problem - he told journalists - You are saying it's all done, then if the player does not arrive, I look stupid. So I will repeat: there are no negotiations." Sanchez however, must take into account Roberto de Andrade's comments: the director of Corinthians referred to a verbal agreement with Adriano.

"Ask him -Sanchez replied-. If he's an agreement, I don't know it. It is impossible to announce his acquisition this year. I can't say if he will play here in February". It was Ronaldo who first called Adriano to  Corinthians: he would like to play with him in the attack. "If Ronaldo writes the check - said the president - I'll sign the contract, otherwise there is nothing".
