Today, Schalke 04's representatives have met with Juventus general manager, Beppe Marotta, to negotiate the transfer of Diego. According to Sky Sport 24, Schalke had a better offer than Wolfsburg (18 million euro). Juventus are now waiting, with no rush.

Schalke's coach, Felix Magath, said: "We are looking for a top class midfielder and Diego has these characterisitcs. He knows the Bundesliga very well. With him, we could reduce the gap we have now with Bayern Munich. We know that he costs a lot, but we are prepared to invest. After Raul and Misimovic we want another top player that will help Schalke to compete for the title".
