£50m Everton star wants to be Spurs' highest earner

Ross Barkley wants huge wages to join Tottenham, according to the latest reports (via Talksport).

Barkley, 23, is valued at £50 million (€56m) by the Toffees, and has been linked to both Spurs and Manchester United.

The Everton man has told his club that he doesn’t want to sign a new deal (his contract expires next summer), prompting Coach Ronald Koeman to transfer list him.

Earning that much, however, would place Barkley right at the top of the Lilywhites’ wage structure, ahead of Harry Kane and Hugo Lloris, who both earn £120,000-a-week.

Tottenham won’t pay that money and, according to the Mirror, won’t splash out more than €17 million.

While the England international has been excluded by Everton’s summer tour, no other club has shown itself to be willing to spend that kind of money on Barkley.

Despite wanting to leave, Barkley’s wish may be overturned by the Toffees’ ambitious transfer campaign, which has seen them splash out for Michael Keane, Davy Klaassen and Jordan Pickford.
