AC Milan transfer rumors: Sarri and Di Francesco lined up to replace Sinisa next season

Silvio Berlusconi wants to see some results and Sinisa Mihajlovic could save his job only winning the Coppa Italia and finishing third in Serie A, otherwise Milan’s owner could decide to sack the Serbian manager at the end of the current season.

“He has yet to convince me”, Berlusconi told journalists last week while celebrating the 30th Birthday of his presidency, before adding that “winning all the games until the end of the season is the only way to do it.”

If rumors coming from Il Giornale are to be believed, the Diavoli have already targeted a couple of possible replacements of Mihajlovic:  Sassuolo’s emerging boss Eusebio Di Francesco and Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri.

The former Roma player has been snatching amazing results at Sassuolo over the last three seasons and the next year could be the right one to step up his career. Berlusconi is a long-time admirer of Di Francesco. After the last Neroverdi’s defeat against Milan at San Siro, Berlusconi went into the Sassuolo dressing room to congratulate the manager for his style of play adding that his team did not deserve to lose the game despite going down to ten men.
“Me at Milan? Never say never”, Di Francesco told reporters shortly after.

It could sound a bit weird, but Maurizio Sarri could be a realistic option too. His deal at Napoli expires this June and the Partenopei president Aurelio De Laurntiis admitted he is in no rush to open contract extension talks with his manager.

“I have an option to extend his contract for another year, but I can only exercise it within a certain date which I actually don’t remember. It could be the end of March, end of April or mid June, I can’t remember.”

“We can use this formula for the next four years. Each season I can decide whether if the manager stays or not.”

Milan had already sounded out Sarri’s availability before appointing Sinisa Mihajlovic as their manager last summer, but the Tuscan tactician is still a tempting option for the Rossoneri’s bench, should Miha be sacked at the end of this campaign.
