Rakitic: 'He will not renew with Schalke. Juve could be an option'
Ivan Rakitic is a hot name for the Juventus winter market. Speaking exclusively to Calciomercato.com, the player's agent Max Urscheler talked about the future of his client.
What is the future of Ivan Rakitic?
This morning I spoke with Ivan and we made the decision not to renew his contract which is due to expire next June. We do not know where he will play in the future but for now I can rule out that he will sign a new deal with Schalke. Yesterday I spoke with Magath, who obviously wants Ivan as part of the club for many years yet, but at the moment we are not thinking about a renewal. There are many clubs interested, we'll see.
There is also a Juventus?
There are many prestigious teams interested; he is a young player who is part of the Croatian national team. He has grown significantly in recent years, has done well both at Basel and Schalke. I repeat, we are not going to renew, I'm open to all proposals. If Manchester United call I am ready to listen. The same goes for any other club.
Could he come to Italy?
It’s Possible. Many want him. I have not spoken with Juventus lately, the most recent contact took place in a couple of months ago. There are other interested teams, Italian, English, Spanish and German, but I do not want to name names. Juventus are a great club with a great history, it could be an option.
What does Rakitic want?
For the moment he does not know. Today we made the decision not to renew this morning, he is also ready to listen to offers that will come. Anything is possible.
