Agent of former Man Utd ace rules him out of the Leeds United vacancy

Leeds United continue to search for a new manager to replace Garry Monk and TEAMTalk states that one of the men in the frame will not be heading to Elland Road this summer. The portal writes that the agent of current Reading boss Jaap Stam has ruled his client out of the running to take over one of the hottest seats in English football.

The former Manchester United defender almost got the Berkshire side promoted to the Premier League last season only for them to lose on penalties to Huddersfield Town in the play-off final at Wembley. The 44-year-old’s work has not gone unnoticed and his name has been linked to the Leeds job since Monk’s departure at the end of the last campaign.

His agent Henk Timmer however, poured cold water on any potential move to West Yorkshire when he explained to Voetbal that; “There’s a lot of interest in Jaap from English clubs and elsewhere in Europe. But he is loyal to Reading – the club who gave him his chance in English football. If a big club from the Premier League comes, it might be another story. The club’s leadership are realistic but as it stands, Jaap wants to finish his job at Reading.”

The big Dutchman has 12 months left on his current deal at Reading and before last month’s final declared that; “I want to go to the top, I played at the top as a player and I want to as a manager,” the former Manchester United player said. But hopefully I can do that at Reading.”
