Arsenal-Brighton: team news and predicted line-ups

  • Matt Reed
Arsene Wenger was able to rest many of his regulars during Arsenal's Europa League victory over BATE Borisov on Thursday, and now, the Gunners have an opportunity to extend their unbeaten streak against Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Gunners picked up a 4-2 win in Belarus against BATE, which began with a pair of goals from Theo Walcott -- who will likely see an increased role on Sunday given Mesut Ozil's doubtful status for the match.

The injury news is much of the same for Arsenal heading into the weekend, with Danny Welbeck, Francis Coquelin, Santi Cazorla and Callum Chambers all long-term absences.

Those setbacks haven't slowed Arsenal down though as of late, with the London side unbeaten in its last six matches across all competitions.

Arsenal currently sits seventh in the Premier League on 10 points, while newcomers Brighton have had an up-and-down start in the top flight and boast seven points through six matches.

The Seagulls are coming off a 1-0 victory against Newcastle a week prior, however, Chris Hughton's group will be without joint-top goalscorer Tomer Hemed. The striker was suspended three matches for his apparent stamp on U.S. international DeAndre Yedlin last Sunday.

Brighton will attempt to do something it has never done before against the Gunners -- win at the Emirates Stadium. The Seagulls have gone winless in their previous six tries (1D, 5 L) on the road against the Gunners, scoring just one goal in the process, per Opta Stats.
