Arsenal hoping to complete Lacazette deal next week

According to The Times (via The Daily Star), Arsenal are hoping to smash their transfer record fee and complete the signing of French striker Alexandre Lacazette next week. Boss Arsene Wenger is ready to make a real statement of intent ahead of the new campaign by welcoming his fellow countryman to North London in a deal worth £44M.

Lyon President Jean-Michel Aulas is understood to be ready to accept the offer as this more than matches his asking price. Lacazette looked set to be heading to Atletico Madrid this summer and the player had an agreement in place with the Spanish club. However, when their transfer embargo was upheld, the Frenchman was not prepared to wait until January to complete his move and neither were his current employers who want the cash as soon as possible.

Arsenal has always been in the running for the 26-year-old and he could be unveiled as The Gunners new striking talent sooner rather than later.
