Arsenal step up chase of Man United target, but Monaco want £80m

Arsenal are set to keep their Ligue 1 shopping spree going, as they ware interested in landing Thomas Lemar of Monaco.

Lemar is also liked by Manchester United, PSG and rivals Man City.

The Mirror report today that, having landed the £52 million Alexandre Lacazette, the Gunners are also to try for Lemar, who played a starring role this season as Monaco won the French title, as well as reached the Champions League Final Four.

However Monaco claim they want a sensational £80m for their man, who netted fourteen goals and provided as many assists in all competitions last season.

Already a French international, Lemar came to the fore, explaining why Arsenal prefer him to Riyad Mahrez, their second option.

The Gunners have been given a kitty in excess of £100m, but have given up on signing fellow Monaco sensation Kylian M’Bappe.

Arsenal have already had offers of £35m and £28m rejected for their winger.
