Even if Juve were in the driver's seat, Atalanta fought back as Caldara beat Buffon to cut the lead in half (around the 30 minute mark) . In the second half, Mario Mandzukic scored to put Juve up by two again but the VAR overturned the decision because of a Lichtsteiner foul on Papu Gomez. Juve payed for this missed attempt as Bryan Cristante tied the game up not too long after.
Late on in the game, Dybala had a free-kick blocked by the Atalanta wall but the referee decided to award Juve with a penalty-kick because of a Petagna hand ball (which was then confirmed by the VAR even if the ball did not really hit his hand).
