Barcelona ask Santos for € 7.9m compensation over Gabigol

The Gabigol-saga is still far from being over and Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo adds a new chapter in the book of controversies between Santos and Barcelona.

According to the sport news website, Barcelona are set to ask Santos € 7.9 million compensation over the player’s collapsed transfer to the Nou Camp.

The LaLiga giants had a first option clause to sign the promising striker last summer, but the Brazilian club failed to inform the Nou Camp hierarchy in time about Inter’s offer.

The Serie A giants eventually signed Gabigol in the deadline day of the 2015 summer transfer window for € 30 million, leaving Barcelona unable to match their offer with just 24 hour notice.

Barcelona are reportedly furious with Santos as the LaLiga champions were pretty sure to be in pole position for the 20-year-old striker who has moved to Inter instead.

The Catalans are now going to ask Santos € 7.9 million to cover damages caused by the striker’s collapsed move to the Nou Camp.

Gabigol has only 16 minutes with Inter so far this season and hope to get more regular game time under new boss Stefano Pioli than what he used to get under Frank De Boer.
