Barcelona end their interest in Bellerin to focus on Portuguese star

Reports in Spain state that Barcelona have ended their interest in Arsenal full-back Hector Bellerin. The former Blaugrana youth player had been tipped to be heading back to the Camp Nou this summer but according to Diario Gol, the Catalan’s have now turned their attention elsewhere.

The player who is now top of coach Ernesto Valverde’s wish-list is Benfica’s Nelson Semedo. The 23-year-old was one of the stars of the Lisbon side’s fifth straight domestic title last season and has also been linked with a move to Manchester United. The player has four years left on his current deal in the Portuguese capital but it’s understood that a deal could be concluded for a fee of around £30M.

Valverde is believed to have got tired with Arsenal dragging their heels over Bellerin who only signed a new deal at The Emirates last September. The player himself has been making noises over a return to his homeland but the lack of cooperation from his club has seen that move look increasingly unlikely.
