Barcelona in 'advanced talks' with €60m Man United target

Barcelona are doing very well on the Nelson Semedo front, according to Jan Hagen of PortuGoal reports.

The Portuguese press (especially Record and A Bola) reveal that the Blaugrana’s negotiations with the 60 million defender are at “an advanced stage”, and that he has been identified by Coach Ernesto Valverde as the future of the right-back position.

Barcelona were unable to replace Dani Alves last summer, Aleix Vidal notoriously falling foul of a major injury setback.

Semedo has a €60 million release clause in his deal, but came close to moving to Manchester during the winter alongside Victor Lindelof.

The Swede was recently reported as being very close to moving to Old Trafford for 35m.

Semedo has performed admirably, scoring two goals and making 12 assists in 47 appearances in all competitions this season. He is also the son of the Under-20 team Coach.

Semedo himself was rather encouraging about moving, recently stating that:

“I don’t want to talk about transfer rumours too much. I am happy at Benfica at the moment, I am on good terms with the club and with my teammates. If something will happen then it will be very natural. Whoever plays for Benfica can play in any other league. I am focused on this cub at the moment. If there is going to be an offer that must satisfy me and the club.”
