New Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde has a busy summer ahead as he looks to stamp his authority on the Catalan giants. One of his reported priority targets is Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti; the Italian international is one of the hottest names in this summer’s transfer window but prizing him away from his current employer will prove difficult.
 

According to Diario Gol, the 24-year-old is interested in a potential move to the Camp Nou with Valverde seeing him as the perfect replacement for Andres Iniesta. Verratti however wants assurances that he will become one of the leaders in the dressing-room whilst at the same time, being a regular starter in the clubs 4-3-3 formation.
 

His final demand is that his salary is on a par with some of the club’s high earners such as Croatian Ivan Rakitic who signed a contract extension this year. The portal claims that if these demands are not met, he will look to talk to Barca’s bitter rivals Real Madrid.
