Barcelona plot move for Man Utd target before 2018 World Cup

Antoine Griezmann is Barcelona’s transfer market priority, according to the latest reports from Spain.

The French star and Atletico Madrid legend has a release clause of only €100 million, and is seen as the Catalans as the player who could turn things around for them after Neymar left in summer, and replacement Ousmane Dembele went down injured.

Mundo Deportivo says that the Manchester United target is wanted before next year’s World Cup. Griezmann - who has scored 61 Liga goals for the Colchoneros - has a clause that will go down to €100m after July 1st, 2018, which may prompt Atletico to accept a sum below the current €200m.

The Catalan paper claims that Coach Ernesto Valverde and sporting director Robert Fernandez value the Frenchman higher than any of the other names available in next summer’s window.

There’s more: Barca, it was recently revealed, tried their hand at an €140m offer this summer, trying to make the most of possible discontent which seemed to be pushing Griezmann to Old Trafford.
