Barcelona to tempt Liverpool with another huge offer for Coutinho

Barcelona’s pursuit of Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho seems never-ending. Having already rejected a £72M offer for the 25-year-old, reports this morning suggest that Liverpool are readying themselves for another assault from the Catalan giants who are prepared to up the ante to try to get their man.

According to The Mirror, the Blaugrana are preparing a whopping £80M offer for the player who starred in Saturday’s Asia Cup victory over Leicester City. The journal quotes sources in Spain who understand that new coach Ernesto Valverde has told club bosses to deliver the Brazilian star at all costs.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp however, is adamant that his player is going nowhere this summer and has stated that Coutinho will not be heading out of the club in the same way as Luis Suarez and Raheem Sterling, declaring that; “With Suarez I was far away. When the club sold Sterling I was maybe the last to know about it. So those situations have nothing to do with this one.
“We are approaching a very important moment and we want to get better. For this we have to keep our key players. So that’s the answer.”

Having reportedly spoken to Coutinho last night at the team hotel, Klopp added that; ““I can say 20 times, he is not for sale. If you ask the other question the other way and I say, there has been no assurance [from owners FSG], you make the story the other way. There is no story for me."
