Barcelona wanted M'Bappe to replace Suarez back in May

Barcelona’s interest in Kylian M’Bappe dates back to May, according to l’Equipe.

The Catalans have lost the 25-year-old to a  massive €222 million offer from PSG, the Ligue 1 giants needing to boost their squad after missing out on the championship to rivals Monaco.

It is in the Principality where Barcelona have been looking for some time, however, reports indicating that M’Bappe met with the Blaugrana’s directors back in May.

In fact, the Catalans wanted to replace Luis Suarez with M’Bappe, who is still only 18. Suarez is 30, just like fellow MSN member Lionel Messi.

At the time, however, the Blaugrana didn’t suspect that Neymar would leave. Now, however, the Brazilian’s departure has prompted the Catalans to get moving, and M’Bappe is one of their targets.

A Real Madrid target who is liked by half of Europe, M’Bappe is still reported to be worth €180 million, a sum Monaco have allegedly raised to avoid having to sell him to PSG.

M’Bappe scored 26 goals in all competitions last season, helping Monaco blast past Manchester City and Borussia as Monaco made it all the way to the Champions League semi-finals.
