Blaise Matuidi not extending PSG contract

PSG midfielder Blaise Matuidi is not going to extend his contract expiring in 2018 with PSG, Le Parisien reports this morning.

The 29-year-old midfielder had been linked with a move to Juventus after that Paul Pogba completed a world-record move to Manchester United last summer.

At the time, Juventus chiefs were hopeful that the PSG ace could move to the J Stadium as his agent is the same of Paul Pogba: Mino Raiola. Juventus thought that the powerful players’ agent could have made a double deal selling Pogba to Manchester and Matuidi to Juventus.

The Ligue1 giants, however, blocked the midfielder’s move to Juventus with the Serie A giants who also failed to seal the transfer of Axel Witsel, remaining short of option in midfield.

Matuidi, a France runner-up at EURO 2016, would have been glad to move to Juventus and his club’s decision to keep him at the Parc des Princes left him more than disappointed.

The player, however, has taken the final decision of not extending his stay with the club after 2018 with Mino Raiola who has also confirmed that Matuidi will leave PSG after that date.
