Boban: ‘Brocchi should have not accepted AC Milan job, Berlusconi’s era is finished’

AC Milan legend Zvonimir Boban shared his thoughts on his former club talking to Italian radio program Radio Anch’io lo sport.

“I see nothing positive in a home draw against Frosinone. The reaction was good, put penalties allowed were a bit ‘strange’.”

“Brocchi’s mission is extremely hard. He has replaced a manager who did nothing wrong and who had found the team’s identity with a 4-4-2 system. Brocchi should not even have accepted the job, but I can understand him. He is not the guilty one for this situation, he just couldn’t understand that the whole situation is too big for him.”

Questioned about Berlusconi’s responsibilities, Boban stated: “If we look at the big picture, we can see there is an ongoing drama. AC Milan’s results were not so bad since 30 years.”

Berlusconi’s era is finished. He has been an amazing president. He taught everyone how a modern club should be organized, but now it is exactly the other way around. There is mess inside the club. Roles are not well-defined, I can see many things which are not in Berlusconi’s style. He should have changed something long time ago, to protect the image and history of the club.”

Boban has also given an advice regarding the new manager for next season: “I’d hire Simeone, even if Mihajlovic is a ‘little Simeone’. He bases his philosophy on order and aggression.”

“Galliani has been a great director too, but he did the same mistake as Berlusconi. He should have protected his job without the economic support of the president and the help of Ariedo Braida. Not seeing Maldini with a managing role at the club is worse than absurd. But they should be regretful much more than me.”
