Borussia Dortmund in the hunt for unsettled Arsenal striker

Borussia Dortmund has joined the race to sign Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud. Mirror football reporter John Cross, who is out in Sydney with the Gunners on their pre-season tour writes that the Bundesliga side are interested in getting their hands on the 30-year-old Frenchman who is believed to be ready to quit North London in search of regular first-team football.

Giroud fears that his place in Didier Deschamps 2018 World Cup squad (should France qualify) will be in jeopardy if he spends too much time on the bench so the player is ready to search elsewhere to ensure that this does not happen.

Having already been linked with Marseille, Everton, West Ham and AC Milan, Giroud looks to have many options in front of him. The arrival last week of Alexandre Lacazette means that the once again, first-team starts will be limited next term for the big striker who told reporters at Wednesday’s third kit launch that; “It (leaving) is an option to be honest with you. “I’m here in pre-season, I wanted to travel. Some people asked me if I am going to travel or not.

“I am an Arsenal player and for the moment I am here. I just want to prepare well for the season and we will see later. But it is true that I really enjoyed my five years with Arsenal. I try to be professional. No matter what happens, I did my job on the pitch.”
