Brazilian star set for Man City medical ahead of £43 million move

Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson will arrive in Manchester today and will complete a world record move to Manchester City in the next 48 hours. The Sun reports that the 23-year-old, who helped Benfica win the Portuguese league and cup double this season, will join Pep Guardiola’s side for a fee of £43M which will finally eclipse Juve’s long standing record of £32M they paid for Gianluigi Buffon from Parma in 2001.

Despite this enormous outlay, Ederson has yet to make his full international bow with the Selecao but Guardiola has seen enough this year to be ready to make him his number one custodian next season.

With England number one Joe Hart set to arrive back from a season out on-loan in Italy with Torino, the Catalan tactician has made it clear with this signing that the 30-year-old no longer figures in his plans with current custodian Claudio Bravo set to be the back-up to Ederson.

The player himself hinted of the move after the weekend’s cup triumph when he told reporters that the game would “probably” be his last for the Lisbon club.
