Breaking: Alexandre Lacazette completes Arsenal move

As CalcioMercato reported yesterday Alexandre Lacazette had undergone his medical and so today Arsenal have completed the signing of the striker from Lyon for a club record transfer of 53 million EUROs rising to 60 million EUROs.

The news comes via the club’s website, on which they say “he is expected to travel with the tour party to Sydney this weekend and is likely to make his home debut in the Emirates Cup on July 29 or July 30.”

The move surely is a positive step for Arsenal, who encountered a mixed spell last year, as they lost out on the Champions League spot but managed to win the F.A Cup via victories over eventual Premier League Champions Chelsea and Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

The transfer should offer some reassurances to Gunner supporters, who have been unhappy with the side’s recent lack of ambition, with particular focus on boss Arsene Wenger – something which has divided fans.

The hope now is that the North London club can keep hold of their star player Alexis Sanchez, in order to mount a serious title challenge next season.
