Breaking: Barcelona handed transfer blow as star defender pens new Psg contract

Barcelona are known to be long time admirers of Psg star defender Marquinhos. The Brazilian is one of the most wanted defenders in Europe and after several months of negotiations with the Ligue 1 giants, the former AS Roma star has reached an agreement to extend is stay at the club.

Psg, in fact, have just announced that the 23-year-old has signed a contract extension with the club extending his stay in Paris until 2022.

Marquinhos joined Psg in summer 2013 for € 31 million and has imposed himself as one of the best defenders in Europe since.

Barcelona are looking to strengthen their defensive pack and the Brazilian was one of the top transfer priorities of the Camp Nou hierarchy.

Marquinhos was also a transfer target of Chelsea but the Blues do not need to sign a new centre-back anymore as they have just completed the signing of Antonio Rudiger who will have his medical with the Premier League champions on Monday or Tuesday.
