Breaking: Former Newcastle midfielder Tiote dies at the age of 30

Former Newcastle midfielder Cheick Tiote has died at the age of 30 after collapsing  during a training session in China where he was playing for Beijing Enterprises in the country’s second division. Tiote is believed to have died of heart attack.

The Ivorian had swapped Newcastle with the second division Chinese club this past January. He had 55 appearances with Ivory Coast national team.

​According to several reports, Tiote was training alongside the rest of his team on Monday when he collapsed on the floor and although he was rushed to the hospital, medics could not mange to save his life.

​Tiote spent seven years at the St. James’ Park scoring one goal and registering nine assists in 156 appearances with the Magpies.

​Several of his former teammates have already paid tribute to the unlucky 30-year-old footballer posting many messages on their social media accounts.

​Demba Ba, a former Chelsea striker who played with Tiote at Newcastle wrote: “may Allah gives grant you jannah brother Tiote”.
