Breaking: Lazio agree deal with Liverpool for Lucas Leiva

Lazio and Liverpool have reached an agreement for Brazilian midfielder Lucas Leiva. Sky Sport 24 reports that the 30-year-old, who has not been offered a new deal at Anfield has agreed to head to the Italian capital for a fee thought to be in the region of £5M.

Lucas arrived at Anfield in 2007 but has slipped down the pecking order under coach Jurgen Klopp. Despite the German tactician’s statements towards the end of last term that the player remains in his plans, the reality was that he would be leaving the club this summer.

Lazio Sporting Director Igli Tare opened negotiations with the Merseyside giants earlier this week and now business has been closed. The player will now undergo a medical ahead of making the move to Serie A.
Lucas has made over 250 appearances for the Premier League side and despite being on the fringes of the squad for the past 12 months, has always remained a fans favourite.
