Buffon: 99.9% my last year... unless Juve win the Champions League

Gianluigi Buffon says that he is likely to retire after next season, but could continue if Juventus win the Champions League.

“This year is 99.9% likely to be my last,” Buffon confirmed to Sky Sport Italia.

The Italian legend has always said that he wants to play until Russia 2018, but he could change his mind if the Bianconeri win Europe’s most illustrious team prize.

“I have a deal with [president Andrea] Agnelli: if something particular were to happen we can see about another year.

“If we win the Champions League we could think of continuing for a year and try to win two more competitions, this would be the conversation which we’d part with.

“I have another year as a player, then in the future I’ll need a period away from it.

“It would have been too easy and too nice to win this year… when I talk about it, I do it with great serenity.
