    Cagliari join race to sign Caceres

    Martin Caceres is arguably the best player still available as a free agent, not only for his age – the Uruguayan defender is still 29 – but also for his background as he only left Juventus at the end of June after spending the last four seasons with the bianconeri side.

    Caceres has been linked with joining Napoli, Milan, Inter and AS Roma, but a new Serie A side has emerged as a possible competitor for the former Barcelona man.

    A host of Italian papers and websites are reporting that Cagliari are interested in signing the highly-rated defender, so much so representatives of the rossoblu will meet the player’s agent Daniel Fonseca to make their contract offer.
