Cagliari are back in the big time and the club’s Sporting Director Stefano Capozzuca has spoken exclusively to calciomercato.com.
 

He was asked first about the rumoured negotiations with Juventus over Simone Padoin, he replied; “Yes we are speaking with Juve about him. He is a player that we are targeting this summer”. Asked if an agreement had been reached he replied; “No there’s been no agreement as of yet. He is a player that we want but there is still some way to go”.
 

On the subject of on-loan midfielder Andres Tello and his proposed move from Juve to Empoli he explained that; “We are speaking with Juventus about the player and I believe he still hasn’t decided on his future so it’s not possible to say if he will go to Empoli. I have to say the boy has done great for us and deserves to play in Serie A”.  

On the defence, Capozuca was asked if Milan’s Rodrigo Ely was a target; he replied; “I’ve heard many rumours about this but he is not one of our objectives”. Then on the rumours regarding Phillippe Mexes and Martin Caceres he declared that; “There is absolutely no truth in any of these stories”.

Finally on Genoa midfielder Tomas Rincon he stated that; “We have an agreement with Genoa, now we must wait”. When it was put to him that Roma were interested in the 28-year-old Venezuelan he replied; “It’s a decision that he needs to take. We are aware that we are competing (for players) with bigger clubs in Serie A but we will do what we can”.
