Carletto: 'Fiorentina’s first place will be in doubt until the end'

Carlo Ancelotti has spoken about the ongoing Serie A season, calling it “strange and open”.

“Anything can happen,” the former Chelsea and Real Madrid manager told the Corriere dello Sport.

Fiorentina’s permanence in first place will be in doubt until the very end.”

Carletto had some very nice words for the two teams in front, Fiorentina and Napoli.

“Fiorentina are doing very well, they’ve shocked the big teams, who in turn have made a lot of changes.

“I like Sarri and Paulo Sousa.

“I like Napoli for how they’re organised, not to mention their pace and technique. They could win it too, definitely.”

That said, Ancelotti opted for someone else in the title race.

“I’m backing Roma because they have the most quality. They look very strong up front with Dzeko, Salah, Gervinho, Iago Falque and Totti.

“Their midfield has as much finesse as it does punch in the middle with Nainggolan and Pjanic.

“Roma have some problems at the back, but it feels like the team is more reliable and consistent now”.

Linked to a return to Milan in the summer, Ancelotti had some positive things to say about his old club Milan, not to mention crosstown rivals Inter.

“The city of Milan has seen the arrival of very good players like Miranda, Murillo, Kondogbia, Bacca and Luiz Adriano, the kind of names that were on every major club's shopping list".

The former Juventus and Roma midfielder had some encouraging words for fans of the Old Lady, too.

“Juventus have changed a lot, losing players who are key to the team’s quality and play like Pirlo, Tevez and Vidal.

"You don’t just find an alternative to Pirlo from one day to the next.

"Marchisio could have been a good option, but his injury has forced Allegri to make a change within a changem if you know what I mean…

“However Juventus have kept their best for the most difficult games, beating City in Manchester and Seville at home. And it’s easier to defend than attack, anyway”.
