Chelsea 'close in' on Real Madrid right-back

Chelsea are closing in on Real Madrid right-back Danilo, according to the London Evening Standard.

The Brazilian defender has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge for several weeks now, with Blues manager Antonio Conte looking to bolster the right hand side of his team, utilising the 3-4-3 formation. He also wants to offer competition to Victor Moses – and the 26-year-old Danilo fits the bill.

Since moving from Portuguese side Porto in 2015, Danilo has only made 55 appearances for the La Liga giants.

Fiery Italian Conte has been keen on Alex Sandro of Juventus but since the surprise signing of Bonucci from Turin to AC Milan, it’s unlikely that the Old Lady will allow their £60m rated Sandro to leave the Serie A side.

There are other options for the West London club defensively, with Ryan Bertrand and Man City target Benjamin Mendy as possibilities for Conte, as he looks to win a second consecutive Premier League title next season.
