Chelsea legend on verge of joining Aston Villa after a round of golf in Portugal

In a Sunsport exclusive this afternoon, former Chelsea skipper John Terry could be on the verge of joining championship side Aston Villa. The Stamford Bridge legend, who left the club at the end of last season, has reportedly been discussing the move with the clubs current boss Steve Bruce over a game of golf in Portugal.

The journal understands that the 36-year-old is looking for a new challenge and the chance to help get Villa back into the Premier League may be an opportunity too good to turn down. It’s understood that chairman Doctor Tony Xia, has told the former Manchester United captain that he will have to sell before he can buy but is believed to be ready to come up with a package for Terry.

There are other options on the table for the ex-England man; Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe is reportedly keen on taking him to the south-coast and Terry is also thought to have had offers from both China and the MLS.
