Chelsea legend wants Villa above Premier League suitors

Chelsea legend John Terry has agreed to join Aston Villa, according to the latest reports.

The 36-year-old ended his long association with Chelsea this summer, having played a secondary role this season under Antonio Conte.

He is set to be Aston Villa’s first acquisition this summer, despite interest from other clubs, like rivals Birmingham.

The former England captain has apparently told the other clubs chasing him that he wants to go to Villa Park, who are ironically coached by former Birmingham gaffer Steve Bruce.

These fellow suitors include other Premier League sides.

The Clarets are trying to return to the Premier League since they were relegated last summer, but didn’t exactly have a very positive season last time round.

Fans were given a potential hint by chairman Tony Xia, who tweeted the following (see beneath), indicating a signing.

Terry spent 22 years at the Chelsea, but had played a diminishing role under Rafael Benitez, before starting more regularly under Jose Mourinho.
