Chelsea, Liverpool & Man City on red-alert as England full-back tells friends he's off this summer

Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City have been alerted by comments made by Southampton full-back Ryan Bertrand who is reported to have told close friends he will be leaving the south-coast club this summer.

According to The Mirror, the 27-year-old has been on the radar of the aforementioned clubs for some time with Chelsea having sold him to The Saints for £10M back in 2015. Boss Antonio Conte wants to bring in defensive reinforcements and a move for their former player could now be on the cards.

Liverpool’s relationship with Southampton has been tarnished after the fiasco surrounding their unsuccessful attempt to bring Virgil van Dijk to Anfield and it would be a bold move to try to open negotiations with another of their players.

Finally, City boss Pep Guardiola is looking for a replacement for Gael Clichy who has now left the club. The journal states that the Catalan tactician has targeted the left-back position as a priority area to address this summer and after their chase for Monaco’s Benjamin Mendy hit the buffers, the chance to bring in a home grown player like Bertrand may be the best alternative.
