Chelsea ready to make 60 million offer for Dutch international defender

Chelsea are ready to make a move for Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk according to reports in Express Sport. The 25-year-old Dutch international has been the subject of huge transfer speculation this summer already after the debacle surrounding his failed move to Liverpool last month.

Despite this however and despite the chance to go to play for the Premier League champions, the player is believed to still want to join Jurgen Klopp at Anfield which could be a serious sticking point in negotiations with the Blues.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte wants to strengthen his back-line this summer and the West London side have also been linked with a move for Juventus stopper Leonardo Bonucci. Southampton meanwhile, have told any suitors (including Liverpool) that they will have to pay £70M to prize their one of their star players away from St Mary’s.

Shouls Chelsea win the race for his signature, there will have to be departures from Stamford Bridge with Nathan Ake and Kurt Zouma the most likely to be leaving.
