Chelsea see off Juventus in race for Real Madrid defender

Reports in The Mirror this morning suggest that Chelsea have won the race to sign Real Madrid full-back Danilo. The 25-year-old Brazilian international is believed to be ready to head to Stamford Bridge in a deal reported to be worth £28M.

The West London side have seen off competition from Italian giants Juventus and the journal claims that boss Antonio Conte wants the deal done by the time the club jets off to the Far East to begin pre-season training next week.

After a slow start to their summer transfer campaign, Conte is anxious to step up the pace ahead of their defence of the Premier League title; Current Juve full-back Alex Sandro is also on the Blues’ radar as the Italian attempts to rub more salt into the wounds of his former club. However, Juve’s asking price of £70M for the 26-year-old remains a huge stumbling block in negotiations.
