Chelsea wantaway 'likes Atletico Madrid'

Diego Costa’s main objective is to return to Atletico Madrid, according to the latest reports from Spain (via Fichajes.net).

The Chelsea striker has been dropped by Antonio Conte, the Italian telling the Spanish-Brazilian via Whatsapp.

Costa wants to convince Spain Coach Julen Lopetegui that he’s a strong candidate for a starting spot.

He recently made it clear that he'd like to move anywhere where he can play, however:

“Atletico are one of them [the options], it doesn’t mean not playing, they can give me to any team in Spain, Brazil or wherever, but I have to play,” the 28-year-old said before Spain’s World Cup qualifier against Macedonia.

“Everyone in the world knows that I like them.

“I’m obviously discarding China, I am thinking about the World Cup”.

There’s a problem, however: the striker’s big wages may be an issue for a team that contains Antoine Griezmann (on a new deal), Koke, Lucas Hernandez and many others.

Costa is coming off a 22-goal campaign with the Blues, adding seven assists in the bargain.
