Confirmed: Juventus star set to skip incoming Serie A clash

Juventus star Leonardo Bonucci is set to skip the incoming Serie A clash against Chievo Verona, the Serie A club have announced through their official website.

The Italian centre-back picked up a muscle injury during Juventus’ Champions League clash against Lyon earlier this week and medical examination have highlighted an injury to the flexor of his left thigh.

The Serie A club have failed to unveil Bonucci’s recovery time saying that the defender’s physical conditions will be monitored on a daily basis.

Given his injury, Bonucci is probably not going to join his Italy teammates either for games against Lichtenstein and Germany.

Bonucci, 29, scored his first goal of the season last week in Juventus’ 2-1 win over Napoli. Known to be a transfer target of Manchester City, Bonucci has collected 13 appearances in all competitions so far this season.

With Giorgio Chiellini also out of action, Medhi Benatia and Andrea Barzagli are expected to start the next Serie A game against Chievo.
