Darmian: the plan of Inter and the obstacle called Mourinho

Inter are preparing for the January transfer window and one of the priority targets is a full-back. The player who tops the shopping list is Manchester United’s Matteo Darmian. The 26-year-old Italian is struggling to find space at Old Trafford and would like a move back to Serie A.

THE PLAN OF INTER:
The former Torino player is adept at playing on both flanks and new owners Suning has earmarked him as reinforcement for January. Contact between the Inter and the Red Devils started last summer and now those discussions have intensified. The player’s representatives have also given the green-light for a potential move and now they must try to convince the Premier League club to sell.

MOURINHO & A NEW OBSTACLE:
Despite having made just three appearances this season, Manchester United will not lower their asking price for the player; a fee of around €20-22 million is needed if the nerazzurri are to take Darmian back to Italy. The other problem as far as the Italian’s are concerned, is boss Jose Mourinho who is believed to be reluctant to part with a player he feels can still be an integral part of his team. The recent injury to Antonio Valencia has opened the door for Darmian who was immediately thrown into action last weekend against Burnley. Should he demonstrate his undoubted talent to the “Special One” it will be difficult for any business to be concluded.
