Everton hopeful of signing unsettled Arsenal striker as Dortmund declare that Aubameyang will stay

Everton boss Ronald Koeman is hopeful that French striker Olivier Giroud will make the switch from The Emirates to Goodison Park this summer. The Arsenal frontman, who has been the subject of huge transfer speculation since the end of last season, looks set to leave the North London after five years with The Gunners.

The big Frenchman wants regular first-team football next term in the build up to next summer’s World Cup to ensure he has a fighting chance of being in Didier Deschamps final 22-man squad for Russia should the French make it. It had seemed as though he was about to make a move back to his homeland with Marseille chasing down his signature. Now it seems as though it could be a straight fight between The Toffees and Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund.

Reports in The Express claim that the German side is  Giroud’s preferred destination but according to The Telegraph, Dortmund have now stated that current star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will not be sold this summer which would certainly scupper the Frenchman’s hopes of making the switch to Signal Iduna Park.

That could now leave Everton in pole-position to add to their squad ahead of the new campaign after a summer which has seen Koeman introduce some exciting new arrivals already.
