Juve full-back Patrice Evra has been speaking to Uefa.com about all things bianconeri.
 

ON HIGUAIN: “I did not know him personally. First of all, he is a great man which is important in football. He is the sort of player who goes berserk if he doesn’t score – it’s in his nature. He is obsessed by scoring goals and reminds me of Ruud van Nistlerooy, players who are born to score”.
 

ON THE NEW ARRIVALS IN TURIN: “The new arrivals are perfect for Juventus and this is another reason why expectations are high. My job is to help then settle into their new family because Juventus is like a family and that’s what makes it successful”.  

ON THE OBSESSION WITH THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: “I have played five finals and won only one. For me, It’s the best competition in club football. Even though I’m 35 now, whenever I hear the anthem it gives me a special feeling”. A player like Buffon deserves a Champions League winners medal”.
 

ON BEING AN ELDER STATESMAN OF THE TEAM: “I’m calmer than I was in the past and I see things much better now. Unlike the past, I probably only put in five crosses during a game but at least one becomes an assist. Also my sense of positioning is different; you should always try to find the right position. Look at Ryan Giggs, when he was 37 he had one of his best seasons and he stated to me that as you get older, you play with the head more to conserve energy”.  

THANKS TO JUVE: “If I wasn’t here at Juventus, I don’t know if my level would be so high. It’s a different work ethic here to the one at Manchester United or the national team. For this I must say thank you to the club who are beginning to see me as a good vintage bottle of wine!”
 

ON PLAYING AT 40: “Don’t worry, when I see my levels falling I shall retire. I’m always honest with myself but at the moment, I’m really enjoying my life. I do not think too much about the future I just have fun because at the end of the day I love this game!”
