EXCLUSIVE: Agents trying to persuade Atalanta to sell Papu Gomez to AC Milan

No secret that Vincenzo Montella is a long time admirer of Alejando ‘Papu’ Gomez. The Italian tactician worked with the Argentinean winger in the 2011-12 campaign at Atalanta and has asked AC Milan to buy him from Atalanta this summer.

Calciomercato.com has exclusively learned that the player’s agent are working to persuade Atalanta to sell the 28-year-old to the San Siro outfit. Atalanta have just announced the sale of Marten de Roon to Middlesbrough for a fee in the region of € 15 million and have no financial problems, though they could negotiate the transfer of Gomez for a transfer fee of € 10 million.

The player told Sky Italia yesterday that he’d be happy to work with Montella again and that he’s waiting for the offer of a top club.

AC Milan don’t want to force the player’s exit. They are on very good terms with Atalanta and will only open transfer talks if La Dea is open to negotiate the sale of the talented winger.

AC Milan could tempt Atalanta adding Suso or Paletta in a player-plus cash swap deal. Paletta spent the last season on loan at the Atleti Azzurri d’Italia, whilst Suso new Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini is a long time admirer of Suso who played the last six season on loan at Genoa, when Gasperini was still in charge of the Marassi outfit.
