Exclusive - Juventus overtake Chelsea & Man Utd in race for Bernardeschi

Juventus continue to work on bringing in summer reinforcements; with Bianconeri chiefs waiting on a verdict from Lazio on the future of striker Keita Balde whilst continuing negotiations for Douglas Costa and Steven N’Zonzi, Calciomercato.com’s Nicola Balice writes that the Old Lady also has her eye of the jewel of Fiorentina – Federico Bernardeschi.

The 23-year-old has been dubbed the “New Baggio” and the Tuscan side are desperate to try to keep hold of the Italian international by offering him a new contract worth €2.5M net per-season which would eclipse the salaries on offer to the rest of La Viola’s squad. The player himself however, is uncertain on what to do and aware of outside interest from the likes of Juve, plus murmurings from the Premier League that Chelsea and Manchester United are keeping a close watch on him, his future hangs in the balance.

Balice understands that Fiorentina chiefs will not be prepared to part with their crown jewel for anything less than €50M with Juventus believed to be ready to test their resolve by offering €40M plus bonus. There is still a long way to go in this particular transfer story, but the plot line looks to have been written.
