EXCLUSIVE: ‘Fiorentina’s Mammana bid too low’, River Plate President tells CM

It is not a matter of secrecy that Fiorentina boss Paulo Sousa has asked the club to buy at least one reliable central defender in January window.

At the beginning of the current transfer campaign, Benfica’s Lisandro Lopez was rumored to be close to joining the Franchi, though the Portuguese side have not allowed his departure due to Luisao’s injury.

La Viola, in turn, have set sights on River Plate’s central defender Emanuel Mammana.
The Italian club have reportedly offer € 6.5 million to secure the player’s services, whose price tag is believed to be in the region of € 10 million.

Talking exclusively to calciomercato.com, the Millionarios’ president Rodolfo D’Onofrio has revealed that Fiorentina’s bid for Mammana is not high enough.

“Fiorentina made an offer for Mammana, but that’s still too low.”

“If this will be their final offer it will be difficult to see Fiorentina acquiring him in the current transfer window. We have already informed the Italian club and the player’s entourage about it.”

“Don’t forget that Fiorentina are not the only side interested in signing him. There are lot of Spanish clubs after Mammana.”

If the Tuscans will fail to get the promising Argentinean defender, they’d probably make an attempt to sign former Atalanta man Yohan Benalouane who wants to leave Leicester in January, or, alternatively, Milan’s outcast Philippe Mexes.
