EXCLUSIVE Inter want Perin or Leno to become Handanovic's successor

Inter Milan may have one of the best goalkeepers in the league, but that doesn’t mean that they haven’t got plans to bring someone young in. Just like Juventus, the Nerazzurri want a young goalkeeper who can become the Slovenian’s successor, something they haven’t done in recent years, probably because of their economic difficulties.

Though he’s 32 and has a few good years ahead of him, Handanovic has never completely gelled with Inter fans, likely because of his aloof demeanour and apparent unwillingness to go for lost causes. Other goalkeepers at least try to dive, the Slovenian doesn’t. This doesn’t take away from his achievements in Milan, especially last season, where he was a big contributor to the Beneamata’s early title charge.

Who are Inter thinking of? Bernd Leno of Bayer Leverkusen is one name, but seems to be secondary to Piero Ausilio’s true pet project, Mattia Perin. Previously without the funds to buy him, Ausilio could easily pony up the €15 million that Genoa have been asking for the young Azzurri goalkeeper, who recently celebrated 100 caps with the Grifone.
