Exclusive: Inter will make major attempt at signing Berardi again | by Fabrizio Romano

Sassuolo are set to discuss a new deal with star winger Domenico Berardi.

The Inter and Juventus target has had a horrible season, going off on Matchday 1 and not returning, his injury serious enough to keep him away for another two weeks, and also visit a clinic in Rome, something we wrote about recently.

Sassuolo are hoping to keep the 22-year-old star at the club, but even if that doesn't happen, they’d like to make their striker more expensive on the transfer market. It’s unlikely that he’ll fetch the same 25 million that was being reported last summer, especially if he keeps missing out major chunks of the season.

Berardi is also on a deal that will expire in 2019, and only earns 1 million a season. The idea is that Sassuolo will increase that to 1.5m.
Inter and Juventus are very much interested, however, and the former are not really concerned about the price, more about why Berardi turned them down last summer, citing his worries at playing a secondary role.

Inter, for their part, still get on well with Sassuolo despite what was likely a case of stonewalling on Juventus’ part last summer, Giuseppe Marotta getting in the way of an eventual move to the San Siro.

What we can gather is that the Nerazzurri intend to mount another bid for Berardi, and already talk regularly to his entourage.
